One Two Three: Jake Messenger
Jake Messenger has a wonderful eye for the world around him. I’m especially envious of his relationship with Thetford Forest. Also, please notice that when Jake talks of colour, he does so properly — with that penultimate “u”. I like that in a photographer.
THE CAMERA
“While I adore my Polaroid 600SE, it’s not the easiest beast to carry around, so I tend to put one of my folding integral film cameras into my bag when heading out. I have my dad’s SX-70, but a bit of fungus on the lens makes it a second choice to my Sonar (or more precisely Supercolor Autofocus). That camera belonged to my dad’s business partner, and he gave it to me when he heard of my Polaroid obsession. I also use an SLR 680 which I picked up for cheap. My favourite places for a wander are in woodlands or around a city – a nice contrast…
THE PHOTOGRAPHS

“In the forest with a pack of Time Zero sent to me by the most excellent Anne Bowerman of The Impossible Project. The colours make my heart ache.”

“Jump forward a year, and here’s a different bit of forest on Impossible Project PX600 First Flush. Magical light through the trees.”
